For starters, make sure that you keep the battery tabs on even when they are not in use. This is the best way to ensure a long battery life, especially if you use zinc air batteries. If you remove the tab, the oxygen in the air might make contact with the zinc and trigger the battery. On the other hand, the life of the unused battery can be depleted if you leave the tab off.

You should also take care that there is no moisture build up taking place in your listening device. It is advisable that you ventilate the compartment of the battery so that no moisture fills in the space and causes damage to the hearing aid battery.

You must also always keep your hearing aid batteries in their packaging or a case. Avoid keeping them loose as they can be can be depleted or shorted out in case they come in contact with metal objects. The best way to keep your hearing aid battery running for a long time is to store it at room temperature and out of the hot areas.
