Tinnitus Hearing Loss

Tinnitus Hearing Loss - The Mildest Of All Hearing Loss Types

In the United States, around 50 million individuals suffer from tinnitus hearing loss. People are usually affected by mild tinnitus and they can be easily cured. However, sometimes the normal life of the individual is adversely affected.

Let us first tell you something about hearing loss.

Hearing loss is of three types, namely conductive hearing loss, sensorineural hearing loss or nerve deafness, and mixed hearing loss. Nerve deafness norm is the threshold at which the sensorineural nerve cannot transmit sound-related pulses, due to which significant hearing loss results

Sensorineural hearing loss may occur, if there is any problem in the inner part of the ear. A projection hearing loss calculator helps forecast a hearing-impaired personÂ's hearing loss after a certain number of years, based on the results of an audiogram of that person taken now.

Continuous exposure to an excessive noise level is the main cause of hearing loss. For hearing loss noise level, especially that above 85 decibels, is largely responsible.

Tinnitus is actually the sensation of sound either in the ear or the head, which is not produced due to any external source. It may be a ringing, roaring, buzzing, or any other type of sound. This sound may be of any type and there may be several reasons that may be responsible for this condition. This problem may be annoying as it is not heard by anyone else, so it is difficult to find its cause.

The main cause of tinnitus is not known yet. But there are various factors that may trigger it. There are several symptoms of tinnitus as well. Tinnitus does not cause any severe problems. Individuals, who are afflicted by this disease, suffer mild problems in hearing.

Stress appears to worsen the symptoms of tinnitus in some individuals, whereas some others live happily without any adverse effects due to this disease, yet some other individuals get extremely annoyed and distracted by these sounds. Tinnitus can strike either one or both ears. It occurs in roughly equal proportion in men and women. It may be caused due to any problem of the ear.

Tinnitus that affects only one of the two ears should be immediately evaluated medically, as it may lead to the formation of tumors at the site of the nerve of hearing and balance.

The type of tinnitus cannot be simply identified by the sound associated with it. To know whether the disease is severe or not, it needs to be thoroughly examined by an ENT surgeon or an audiologist. Several tests that include balance tests, blood tests, and hearing tests may be conducted based on your symptoms.

If the diagnosis is not successful, the doctor will carry on with the examination of the inner parts of your ear through tests. He will perform an audiogram. This may help confirm the type of tinnitus you may suffer from.

After diagnosis, the doctor shall prescribe treatment for tinnitus to you. Use of a hearing aid may help cover up tinnitus. It also aids nerve transmission of sound-related pulses

In most cases, no treatment for tinnitus hearing loss is required. It may either subside itself with time or the patient may have to live with it throughout his life.
